5 Setting Drills Volleyball Players Do To Fix Any Ball Control Issues

These 5 wall passing and setting drills volleyball players do in my private trainings and class session will help you improve your volleyball setting skills.

These wall passing and setting drills volleyball players do in my trainings can be done daily at home with a goal of at least 250 - 500 reps of various drills to keep your passing or setting technique, angled platform work, ball contacting skills and control of the ball.....extremely sharp!

Pick a brick, a specific spot on the wall or mark a big X in chalk on a wall or use a basketball net or backboard ...no matter what... anybody walking by.... should be able to see exactly where the spot is that you are aiming for EVERY...single....time.

Do 3 to 5 sets of 100... five feet from the wall ....then side step two feet and repeat. Then step back and repeat. Complete 300 to 500 passing repetitions

You’re welcome!

One Hand Half Court Setting Drills Volleyball Players Work On In My Semiprivate and Private Training

I get text and DM requests all the time, from college and high school players all around the world … looking for individual skills and ball control drills that they can do at home.

Got a basketball net at home?

Here's one you can try....

Try one handed deep tips to the back court. This is a great option

The Tip Is A One Handed Set.

In your spike training practice, you want to practice all the possible things you will do, if and when you get the perfect set.

Of course, when you get a perfect set you are going to want to hit the ball.

But, that is also what the defense is expecting you to do.

To mix up your game, in practice, when your setter sets you the perfect ball to hit, don't! Tip it instead.

Tip the ball deep to an open spot on the opposing team court or right behind the block.

If you do, you will catch the defense back on their heels because they expected you to hit that ball hard and instead you fooled them and tipped it softly over their block, short in their court. Now they have to scramble to pick a ball up that they didn't expect to get.

Want variation to your setting drills volleyball practice reps?

Try to use one hand to work on your two handed basic warm up skills.

If you really want to get fancy, then warm up setting with your non dominant hand… it’ll start out looking and feeling weird …but like everything…if you do it regularly enough in warmups… you’ll add another tool you can put in your toolbox of volleyball skills that you can use later during a tight set in a game.

  • Pass to yourself,
  • set a two to yourself,
  • set a HUT to your partner..
  • Try two hands first then one hand…

Challenge yourself to get a certain amount of reps done in a specific amount of time.

One Handed Setting Drills Volleyball Players Do To improve Setting Skills:

Try a one handed set ... set yourself a two ball.. then hit to your partner.

( Watch out Carm😂) .

. In Breakfast Club Working on keeping elbow high and swinging fast .. while still controlling the ball to your target. . . Too easy?

Then.. add the last two steps of your approach jump before hitting to your partner 💪🏾😂💪🏾😂💪🏾

Think outside the box!

Be creative with your ball control drills. try this... -

  • Right hand jump set a two to yourself
  • Left hand jump set a two set to yourself
  • Jump set a four set to your partner
  • Repeat and have fun . .

You can do this at home against a wall for some creative wall ball drills.
