What Sets My Volleyball Coaching Style Apart From Others in Vegas

I do things differently when it comes to my volleyball coaching style and I may (or may not) be a good fit for you so look at what I do to see if we're a match

What else sets me apart from other private volleyball coaching styles in Vegas?

I am very empathetic towards my clients because of my extensive career as an elite player and one of the top outside hitters in the world at one time.

I can "see" and "feel" what a player "sees" and feels" in moments of difficulty which makes it easy for me to empathize with a player's issues, problems and concerns.

That's a secret weapon I have and how I got the nickname "volleyball player whisperer.

During my Breakfast Club for College Players summer training for college players in Vegas home for the summer we work on partner jump float serving technique where two servers at a time in two different lines serve behind Zone 1 and Zone 5 to a designated spot on the opposing court.

Pairs work together to get the ball "in" and if one player in the serving pair misses their serve neither of the two score a point for their team.

So no point for the two people serving and no point for the team they represent so the pressure feels like its double the weight.

The more we do this drill the more the server feels the weight of making their serve in.

I also include the concepts of "rhythm" and "wide vision" in practices which most coaches don't know and I tend to choreograph practices like a dance so players understand the ebb and flow of a competitive match which is similar to the choreographed steps professional dances learn when performing a dance routine.

How My Private Volleyball Coaching Prepares You for College

I've trained with 2024 Big West All Conference Preseason Coaches Team, Cal Poly starting outside hitter Tommi Stockham on how to hit harder volleyball attacks when she was a junior in high school at Bishop Gorman.

What Are Some Key Focus Areas in My Private Volleyball Coaching for College Preparation

Coach April Private Volleyball Coaching: Serving

Private coaching sessions dedicated to developing a variety of serves with the consistency and accuracy demanded at the college level.

My College Breakfast Club training group working on jump float serve skills specifically hand to ball and toss consistency.

If you are a player with problems with serving, your goal should be to become that player who can be counted upon to consistently score a series of points from the service line.

That's how tough the serve you want to develop should become and that's how dependable you want to be for your team.

Coach April Private Volleyball Coaching: Passing and Ball Control

Like in most beginner volleyball drills, one player will "guide" the drill while the other player "works" the drill.

One-on-one attention to refine your passing techniques, ensuring you can handle tough serves and attacks in college play.

f you're a player with problems with passing, there are two skills you must conquer if you are going to even think about playing competitive "next level" volleyball, the first is serving, the second is passing. I'll make this easy, if you can't pass, you can't play.

Coach Karch Kiraly Quotes on Forearm Passing

Coach April and Karch Kiraly at the Vanguard University DinnerCoach April and Karch Kiraly at the Vanguard University Dinner

"I’ve often said that forearm passing is the cornerstone of volleyball, and I believe it more than ever now that I’m a coach.

If you want to elevate the play of those around you, indoors or beach, you have to be able to make the ball go where you want by using your forearm platform."

Karch Kiraly

Passing the ball is a technical skill that can take a minute to learn but you need to keep doing consistent reps to stay sharp.

Volleyball Coaching: Hitting

Use these volleyball drills for hitting to improve your attacking power which begins with a strong three step or four step spike approach.

Private volleyball coaching is the solution if you want to develop powerful and precise hitting strategies effective against college-level blockers.

Taking volleyball lessons with me is a positive experience for players with problems with spiking.

That's the most common question I get. How can I spike like a pro player? When can we hit?

Coach April Private Volleyball Coaching: Blocking

Individual training on reading setters, footwork, and timing to make you an effective blocker in fast-paced college games.

Taking volleyball lessons with me is a positive experience for players with problems with blocking.

Blocking is important, even if you are short and still have to play in the front row on your team.

Doesn't matter! You can still contribute as a front row defender which is basically what a blocker is.

Coach April Private Volleyball Coaching: Defense

Specialized private coaching for defensive specialists and liberos, enhancing reading skills and reaction times for college-paced play.

Taking volleyball lessons with me is a positive experience for players with problems with digging. Regardless of your height, you can learn to dig, and learn to chase balls and you can learn to love it!
