Manhattan 6 Man and Summer Beach Volleyball Tournaments From April - September Post, Promote and Publicize Your Beach Volleyball Event

You know what I like about beach volleyball tournaments?

A lot of things but I especially like the weather. Its usually a perfect spring or summer day.

Apparently I'm not the only one.

Most beach volleyball associations around the country start their seasons on the first weekend in May.

But with the growing popularity of sand volleyball, beach volleyball tournaments around he world are being scheduled earlier and earlier in the year.

On this page there's a list of famous and not so famous annual beach volleyball tournaments in the United States.

There are links to the registration pages of each tournament.

Wasatch Beach Volleyball - Utah

Here's an interesting tradition that Wasatch players have kept up...when Wasatch Beach members go to other beaches to visit or play in other beach volleyball tournaments, they bring back samples of sand from those beaches and they add it to the sand on Wasatch Beach.

Apparently there are samples from over 20 beaches around the Western hemisphere mixed in with the Wasatch Beach sand, making it what locals and regulars call it a "world beach."

Both regulars and visitors are invited to keep the tradition going by bringing back samples of sand from beaches that haven't been represented on the "truly a world beach" list.

The Wasatch Beach Volleyball tournament schedule starts in mid-April with an open tournament in St. George followed by the King and Queen beach season opener at with an Open, A, B divisions on April 27.

There are 16 scheduled events this summer culminating in two closing tournaments one in September with the King and Queen Beach Season closer and the final St. George season closer in October.

Wasatch Beach Volleyball was formed by Mike Manczuk and Mark Zimmerman, long-time beach volleyball players and friends who are passionate about the sport and committed to its growth and development.

The mission of Wasatch Beach Volleyball is to grow the sport by bringing the fun and excitement of pro-style beach volleyball to Utah through developmental initiatives and an extensive schedule of competitive events.

And there will be one more division because of the special guest who will be attending to conduct her clinics this year.

Joined by several other pro beach players, three-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May Treanor will bring her "Dream In Gold" volleyball clinics for local boys and girls age 10-18 to participate in on July 13.

Manhattan Beach Six Man Tournament
Manhattan Beach, California

Manhattan Beach Six Man Tournament - Manhattan Beach, California

Often referred to as the biggest Manhattan Beach party of the year, hundreds of six men and six women teams gather to compete in the Charlie Saikley 6-person volleyball tournament in front of 50,000 spectators as a part of the three day International Surf Festival.

Did I mention that this is a costumed affair? Yep each team that enters must be in costume.

The first day is a lot of fun, but the second day is serious. All the hardcore athletes and teams make it to the second day...and although they are in costume, they are out for blood and the first place title.

How do I know?

Because I've won two open editions and finished third in another and it was hard work but it was worth it.

Rest in peace Charlie!

Two days starting July 31 and August 1, for the last two years the tournament has been scheduled to start midweek to better control crowds.

The Charlie Saikley 6-Man Beach Volleyball Tounament is the premiere 6-man beach volleyball tournament in Southern California. The tournament draws over 50,000 spectators each year. The event has been moved to Friday and Saturday to make team participation more convenient.

Steamboat Doubles Tournament

For over 30+ years, Steamboat Doubles has reigned as one of Colorado's premier volleyball tournaments.

Now with 22 different divisions and over 600 teams in attendance, Steamboat is the second largest adult 2x2 tournament in Colorado, one of the largest events in the country and a "must play" on the Colorado Mountain Tourney circuit.

Make your plans early...with the Hot Air Balloon Festival, Arts and Crafts Fair and Rodeo also in town, rooms sell out early.

We look forward to seeing you the week after July 4th each summer (except for 2019) for an awesome weekend of volleyball in the heart of the Colorado Rockies.

Thanks to all that played in 2019, as with every year you helped make it one of the biggest Steamboat Doubles tournaments ever.

The weather was perfect (minus a late Sunday sprinkle) for all 4 days!  We hope everyone enjoyed the volleyball competition, the 4th of July celebration, the Friday night check-in with live music, the "beverages" in the parks and an amazing Saturday night players party location.

Congratulations to all our winners, to get the FULL results of all divisions just click on Results/Entries on the left.

Sincerely,
The Steamboat Doubles Team

Putterhead Doubles

                     Putterhead Doubles                     August 14, 15 & 16, 2020

Started in the 1994, Putterhead remained a small, locally run tournament for many years.

In 2003, the Breckenridge Parks and Recreation Department asked Volleyball Of The Rockies, a Denver Volleyball League Organizer, to assist with the event.

The tournament has grown from 55 teams into one of Colorado's largest volleyball events with 16 different divisions and over 600 teams in attendance.

As a little bonus each player gets a Putterhead T-shirt. Just 80 minutes from Denver and with super affordable lodging options, the Putterhead Volleyball Tournament is the perfect choice to escape the heat and enjoy cool mountain air for the weekend.

September Beach Volleyball Tournaments

September Beach Tournaments

Here are some great volleyball tournaments in September many families attend.

Some of these offer tournament divisions for parents looking to play competitive volleyball while the kids have a chance to compete in a division made specifically for them.

Organizing your family vacation around an annual volleyball tournament has become the new "in" thing to do.

We've also included some preseason college volleyball tournaments that families may want to take their young volleyball players to check out.

Motherlode Tournament
Aspen, Colorado

Motherlode Tournament - Aspen, Colorado

To get an idea just how much family fun you can have by attending a beach volleyball tournament played at 8000 feet above sea level check this out...

This Labor Day weekend event in Aspen Colorado is billed as one of the largest doubles volleyball events in North America.

I can vouch for how much fun this tournament is.

I made it into the finals of the women's open in a marathon match against AVP pro beach volleyball friends.

You play this six day volleyball festival at a higher altitude so be prepared! Even at 8000 feet above sea level the Motherlode has grown in popularity, so much so that two more divisions have been added one men's seniors 55s and one women's seniors 45s.

The Motherlode has grown into one of the most popular September volleyball tournaments in the country.

History was made by players in the men's and women's events in the 2012 editions and the 41st annual event promises to be just as exciting.
