Volleyball passing is a way of contacting the ball with both of your arms held together so the ball lands on your forearms which are used to guide it to a specific target, either getting it to another player or to transfer the ball over the net.
Passing the ball is a skill which does take a lot of practice.
When you hear a player say they practice how to bump a volleyball, you don't have to worry, its not a medical condition. What they are telling you is that they need to practice their passing skills and consistency.
I recommend these volleyball drills for passing beginner players can use to
Pass to yourself and set to your partner is a warmup drill that works on improving passing individual technique and ball control.
Pass to yourself and set to your partner is a warmup drill that works on improving passing individual technique and ball control.
When you first start playing one of the volleyball drills for passing beginners learn to do is the server vs passer drill.
You'll want to work on moving to balls that aren't served right to you. When you need to move to get to served ball you want to get to the spot the ball is going to land..before the ball lands and not AS the ball lands.
If you are a beginner passer having a problem with your passing skills one thing you can do is check to see if you get distracted by taking your eyes off the ball between the time the server serves it and the time the ball crosses the net.
You might be taking too long to begin visually tracking the ball, and if you start tracking it once the ball gets to your side of the net then that's times too late to react to it.
One of the volleyball drills for passing beginners can use to focus on the ball are wall ball drills which force you to narrow your focus on the ball coming back to you quickly.
These wall drills are volleyball drills for passing beginners use
Especially with beginners I like to start with a warmup passing drill where you go against the wall to focus on your passing technique before getting on the court and progressing to passing with a partner.
How To Do The Wall Passing Drill
🏐Take two big steps away from the wall
🏐Pick a spot on the wall that's 2-3 feet above your head.
🏐Use a piece of tape or chalk or identify the brick that you are going to pass EVERY ball to.
🏐Start passing to that spot.
🏐Every time the ball doesn't get to that spot, stop and start again.
🏐Do not finish until you've passed 50 balls to that spot. They don't have to be in a row at first. Just get 50 no matter how long it takes.
