I love digging and defense and I love coaching the dig volleyball drills that are the most challenging so we do a lot of them for liberos and players in other positions in my clinics and private trainings.
So I made a collection of some of the dig volleyball quotes and comments that I've shared on social media with my followers.
Remember when Rocky’s trainer had him chase chickens in the chicken coop…to work on
🏐fast feet
🏐quick read and react without thinking
🏐eye-hand body coordination in a low running position
✔️……..similar concept.
Not trying to be pretty with a picture perfect or technically correct dive in this instance.
Just working on getting comfortable with becoming 🙏🏾 zen with the floor… adopting “the floor is my friend” attitude (Izzy isn’t crazy about hitting the floor if there’s sand on it🤣 Thank you Aubrey, Lena, Ari, Izzy Sunday Semiprivate Sessions.

Game like Volleyball Drills: Five vs Five No Middle Blocker Transition Drill We Do In Training
I love this drill because it gives middle blockers to work on being outside hitters and/or playing defense it you choose.
Today, we tackle the mechanics of the Down Ball, a key move that gives your game a strategic edge.
It's about hitting the ball with force, but keeping your feet on the ground, rather than launching into a full-on spike approach.
No jump, just a solid, powerful hit when there's no time for a traditional spike.
We've got Emmalyn and Aubrey on the court today, two of my hard-working semiprivate training who've been working on their Down Ball technique.
Watch how they use the speed of the armswing to generate power combined with precision without leaving the ground.
It's all about control and quick decision-making.
Many times players wait too long before putting their hands together … especially when they have to dig line where they have less time to react.
Once a hitter is in the air and has committed to the beginning of their arm swing … hands should be close to or already together..

Dig Volleyball Spikes By Watching The Ball, The Setter And The Hitter
Dig more volleyballs by watching the the ball, the setter, the ball and then the hitter when the opposing team attacks the ball.
Dig volleyball balls that are hit hard and fast by the opposing team's spikers!
Whether the ball comes right at you, lands close to you or if you have to take 2 -3 steps to run down a ball, the Ball-Setter-Ball-Hitter digging techniques taught in our Boot Camp classes help you cover more court and get more balls up in defense by being in the right place at the right time.
Here's what you should do to anticipate where you need to be to dig volleyballs hit into your court.
Dig volleyball balls that are hit hard and fast by the opposing team's spikers!
After your team has served the ball over the net....
1. Watch the pass as the other team passes the ball to their setter.
2. Then watch the setter to see how and who she's going to set the ball to.
3. Watch the ball as it travels to the hitter.
4. Watch the hitter to interpret quickly the best place for you to be while in the back row behind your blockers.
5. Make sure you are not behind the blockers and that you can see the hitter clearly as she hits the ball into your court.

Set Goals For Yourself When You Do Your Volleyball Drills On Your Own
Whether you do drills at home by yourself, or doing them in practice with your teammates, it's best to get in the habit of setting mini goals for yourself to reach in order to complete each drill.
For example, let's say you have to get 50 perfectly passed balls to the target before stopping one drill and going on to the next.
Not only will you discipline yourself to perform the volleyball drills correctly, but you will replicate the pressure you will feel in a game-like situation when you absolutely have to do the skill right.
I love the Hit and Dig Ball Control warmup drill because…
…you get to work on good spiking technique while your partner works on reading and good digging technique…both with the ultimate goal of controlling the ball to your intended target.
