What Is Tool In Volleyball? Ways Hitters Use The Block To Score Points

The "tool in volleyball" is an attack hit used by hitters to aim the ball at the outside blocker's outside hand, so it hits the blocker's hand and bounces out

"Tooling the block" is commonly used volleyball jargon, a slang phrase used to describe how hitters use the block to score points when they're

  • attacking down the line or
  • aiming the ball for the highest part of the seam of the block or
  • off the top of the blocker's hands

What does tool mean in volleyball?

The "tool" is an attack hit that hitters, especially smart short ones, going up against big blocker swipe, wipe, hit, poke or tool the block - meaning when hitting, they purposefully aim the ball so it hits the outside blocker's outside hand, you know the one closest to the antenna.

Using a wiping motion - the hitter directs the ball with or without much force so it contacts the blocker's hand and then bounces out of boundsThe Tool in Volleyball - Using a wiping motion - the hitter directs the ball with or without much force so it contacts the blocker's hand and then bounces out of bounds

Using a wiping motion - the volleyball hitter directs the ball with or without much force so it contacts the blocker's hand and then bounces out of bounds - out of reach of the opposing team's diggers making it impossible for them to dig up a playable ball.

This is a hard ball to dig up and replay because the outside blocker is the last person to touch a ball that's been intentionally hit so that it travels out of bounds after contacting the block.

This is a tool (excuse the pun, lol) that shorter hitters use successfully against bigger blockers to score smart points.

poke or pokey - not a wiping motion but using the knuckles to poke the ball into the block in the same way so that the ball deflects out of bounds in a way that makes it unplayable.

The Volleybragswag Volleyball Ball Logo

I created the signature Volleybragswag ball while working with a designer who originally started out by just creating a word logo.

I thought the word logo by itself was unremarkable and boring.

But a word ball...now that's one of the most interesting volleyball t shirt ideas created for a logo.

The ball is our trademarked logo and appears in all of our Volleybragswag volleyball t shirt ideas and designs in one way or another.
