To lead & connect with the team, I first connect with myself. A couple of breaths do the trick: the magic of feeling good.
When you discover what moves you, that’s when the magic happens.

Not sure how famous i am but let me share this with you...
The joys and life lessons learned while playing overseas as a #provolleyballplayer are tremendous and give you a chance to see the world, different cultures, learn about yourself, while representing your country playing the game you love to compete in.
I did it for a long time and would recommend it to everyone willing to try (it’s not easy) but worth it.

BE A CHAMPION!
Champions have several traits in common, and none of them are influenced by their talent. All champions have the incredible bravery to pursue their goals. No worries about failing. They take thoughtful risks. Watch this for more motivational advice!

GORUCK GAMES // EVOLUTION 001: BFF
We arrived at GORUCK headquarters by 3 PM on Friday April 21st, greeted by a cadre of special forces veterans leading us, and were given gear. No insight on what we would be doing was provided prior to the games, other than a packing list that included camping gear and the instructions to come ready for 48 hours of competition. It was invitation only, which resulted in a group of world class athletes showing up to play - 10 males & 12 females. At 4 PM, the Games began.
The BFF was our first test. Unfortunately, it does not stand for Best Friends Forever, but rather Baseline Functional Fitness test. It is similar to the army PT test and has become the standard for GORUCK PT at Selection, Heavy Challenges, and the GORUCK Games. There were 4 components:
1. 2 min max sandbag burpees (60# for F)
2. 200 meters suitcase carry for time (60#)
3. 2 min max hand release push-ups
4. 1 mile run with a 100# ruck
One thing I learned over the course of these two days is that I sure can burn fast and hot. I won the first two events with 31 sandbag burpees, and 46 seconds on the suitcase carry. Hand-release push-ups were rough (maybe because my arms are so damn long), and the 100# mile was a soul crusher. But I gave my best effort for both, and set myself up well in the rankings. Amazing to watch some athletes run faster than most can run a mile without anything on. The fastest time was 7:00 😲 by @jnewby87 .
The cadre mentioned letting any of them know about pre-existing heart conditions, and I’m convinced it’s because of the look on my face and the way I was breathing in 100# miler. The Games were loaded with firsts for me (as it was for most of us), and the BFF was just a warm up for what was to come.. 🤘🏼

One thing I’ve learned is that it’s never my job to convince someone of my worth. The right people see it and will pour into you with so much love that it will then spill out of you… and for those people I am eternally grateful🤍

I’d like to make an appreciate post for one of the best humans I know and now Gold Medal winning coach, @tamamiyashiro This incredible soul competed and coached in the coolest game our sport has to offer… more importantly, in every moment shows up with the most true, calming, grounding, loyal, intelligent, competitive, and loving energy I have been around.
Tama you truly are one of one, and are the best teammate I’ve ever played with. Playing or coaching, we always know you have our back- and there’s nothing better.
Congrats on helping your team win a silver, bronze, and now GOLD! We are all better for getting to spend our minutes with you. Love you homie! We are so proud of you and the impact you make everywhere you go! @usavolleyball @usavwnt @uwvolleyball

I share alot of individual, partner and easy-to-do volleyball serving drills we do in class with my followers.
Many of these volleyball practice drills you can do at home by yourself or try at your next practice with your teammates.
If you're a B team or JV player trying to make varsity next year...your goal should be to complete 1000 reps a day of at least three of the basic skills on your own...volleyball passing, serving and setting should be at the top of the list.
