Meet Meghan Mannari the volleyball libero for LSU.
What makes you special?
I consider myself more privileged and fortunate than special.
Being a part of this great LSU program has given me the opportunity to play the game I love with all of these other talented athletes that are my friends not just teammates.
The bond we have formed both on and off the court is something that I will always remember.
What accessories and/or equipment help you play your best?
I think if you look at this in a team perspective, we are all accessories that make each other play better. When each one of us does our part, we flow and play well together as a whole unit. Not one of us is more important than the other.
Realizing that we’re wearing purple and gold not only representing ourselves but LSU motivates us to play for things far greater than ourselves.
What pregame habits, rituals, or superstitions do you have to do before every game?
There are many pregame rituals that prepare each and every one of us for the upcoming match. It all starts with taping our fingers and leads to us dancing along with our “pregame playlist” in the locker room.
After we talk to the coaches and are set with our gameplan, Madie Jones leads us in our “Geaux Tigers” cheer.
The superstitions all end with one last prayer that I stay on my feet and don’t fall as we run on to the court for warm-ups.
Who or what inspires you to play well in each match that you play in?
I will say having a brother just 17 months older than me has led to my competitive nature. As a team when you have a group of competitors playing together you learn to thrive off of each other. We trust each other, and you begin to play well because you can't let them down.
We each know our role and do everything we can to leave it all on the court each and every game.
The help from our coaches, our fans, and our support staff as a whole is what makes you put your heart into the game and play; it makes you proud to be a Tiger.
Volleyball Quote about LSU junior libero Meghan Mannari
“Meghan and our entire back row continue to be difference makers for us in matches,” head coach Fran Flory said. “She stepped up and made some very spectacular plays for us during critical points of both of our road wins last weekend. Our back row has been very reliable and is a big reason why we are where we are at this point in the season.”

Improve Your Volleyball: What makes you special?
Something that I have worked hard at my whole life is being a leader.
I work very hard to try and be a positive leader on and off the court for my team.
Improve Your Volleyball: What accessories and/or equipment help you play your best?
Recently, I suffered a hip injury that was very painful. Luckily my helpful trainers created a hip guard that now allows me to play my position successfully.
Improve Your Volleyball: What pregame habits, rituals, or superstitions do you have to do before every game?
Before every game our team has a "focus time" where we turn off the lights and imagine ourselves playing.
At that time, I will tell myself to be disciplined and be amazing for that match.
Improve Your Volleyball: Who or what inspires you to play well in each match that you play in?
Every match I play, I play for my team, myself, and my family which with out I would not be so successful.
Every match I tell myself to leave everything on the court, win or lose if I do that I will be pleased.

Meet Marcela Urbina the volleyball libero for the University of LM
Improve Your Volleyball: What makes you special?
"My sense of humor and positive attitude when facing adverse circumstances is something I feel sets me apart.
My perseverance is also something I'm proud of. I have a good work ethic which involves a lot of effort, but it always pays off in the end. I fight for what I want.
I also appreciate what I have and the opportunities I've been given."
Improve Your Volleyball: What accessories and/or equipment help you play your best?
"My knee pads help me feel more fearless on the court.
Otherwise, nothing really. We are not allowed to wear jewelry or anything I would consider helpful on the court."
Improve Your Volleyball: What pregame habits, rituals, or superstitions do you have to do before every game?
"I don't have any traditional superstitions or rituals I must do before each match.
One habit of mine though is to make sure I focus and get ready for the match, though. I make a concerted effort to get into the competitive mindset and be ready to fight."
Improve Your Volleyball: Who or what inspires you to play well in each match that you play in?
My family and the people that support me the most in my life. My teammates also play a huge role in inspiring me to play the absolute best I can, because we are a unit. We must all work together and make sure we are on our game, so they definitely inspire me as well."

If you're a B team or JV player trying to make varsity next year...your goal should be to complete 1000 reps a day of at least three of the basic skills on your own...volleyball passing, serving and setting should be at the top of the list.
